The Leibniz Science Campus NanoBrain organized a Springer Nature Masterclass

On March 3, 2026, the Leibniz Science Campus NanoBrain, led by Dr. Roberta Backhaus, organized a Springer Nature Masterclass on the topic of “Effective Grant Writing,” i.e., the successful drafting of grant proposals. The one-day workshop, led by Dr. Harry Shirley, Editorial Director at Nature Portfolio, is part of Springer Nature’s professional development portfolio. The aim of the event was to provide early-career researchers with practical strategies for writing grant proposals.

Early-career researchers from the partner institutions of the Leibniz Science Campus NanoBrain were in attendance, including the Leibniz Institute for Resilience Research (LIR) gGmbH, Johannes Gutenberg University (JGU) Mainz, the University Medical Center of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, the Institute for Translational Oncology (TRON) gGmbH, the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (MPI-P), and the Institute for Molecular Biology (IMB) gGmbH. In addition, the event welcomed researchers from the Leibniz Science Campus ACTISONO at the University Hospital RTWH Aachen and the University of Wuppertal.

The masterclass offered participants valuable insights into the structure, reasoning, and strategic planning of successful grant applications. In addition to theoretical input, the focus was on practical tips and interactive discussions. With this event, the Leibniz Science Campus NanoBrain underscores its commitment to the targeted promotion of early-career researchers in the research landscape.
